What do I do if I have a genital skin condition?

Change in how skin feels to touch eg thicker, thinner take a photograph to show doctor-often symptoms change and it may look different when you see a doctor can try avoiding soap, using simple substances. Lots of possible emollients, soap-free such as Aquamax, Aquamol, Zeroderm, Doublebase, Hydromol, Cetraben-all available to buy.

If symptoms continue then you need to consult a doctor, usually your GP in the first instance.Need to be examined-cannot make a diagnosis without seeing the skin if not improving with treatment from GP need to be reviewed and may need specialist referral

Sometimes a person is afraid there is a sexually transmitted infection causing the problem. Can then contact your local Sexual Health/Genitourinary Medicine Clinic for the exclusion of infection. May still need to see a specialist in genital skin.
